Dear Fellow Optimists,
Willie and I are extremely honored and pleased to serve the great NCW District
as your 2009 - 2010 Governor and First Lady. We are excited about this
opportunity to serve our youth and community. In this "Promise yourself for the
kids" year, we are dedicating ourselves "to work only for the best and to expect
only the best.
I want to thank each of you who have accepted leadership roles at both the club
and district levels. It is well documented that strong clubs make strong districts
and strong districts make strong regions and ultimately a strong OI organization.
Nevertheless, the club member and the club is where the rubber meets the road.
With each member giving his/her talents, dedicated and committed to service
this will be a great year in optimism in the North Carolina West.
This year's OI logo is a soaring eagle. The district logo is a spoon supporting the
eagle. The implication being the eagle can only soar with district service and
support. That support depends on each and every member striving to reach "the
greater achievements of the future." Always remember the bigger the spoon the
more YOU can serve.
